Learning to read? Try talking to a dog

Bailey is a registered therapy dog. She visits schools and children read to her. This however, helps kids learn to read. How does this work? Well, when kids read to their classmates or other people, they feel scared and/or shy because a teacher might correct them. They might also feel a little nervous because they are being judged by their peers. If a child doesn't know a word, the dog doesn't know the word either. They can just look it up in the dictionary and not feel nervous around others. This will also make kids want to go to school. They would want to because they are excited to read to a dog. I thought this article was very interesting because I never knew reading to a dog actually improved your reading skills. I have learned that when you read to a dog, your actually reading to someone but to someone who can't judge you.
